Good morning!
Good morning!

How do you begin your class? Morning routines in an ESL classroom (all classrooms) help set the tone for the day and give students daily practice with English in a comfortable setting. Teachers should always include greetings like “Good morning” and “How are you?” to build conversational skills. Reviewing the calendar and weather also helps initiate discussions, and helps teach days, months, dates, and words like sunny or rainy. Simple routines like counting classmates and checking feelings with “I feel ___ today” also support language growth.

Reviewing these routines works best with consistency and small variations to keep things interesting. Rotating student leaders to run the calendar or weather builds confidence and encourages authentic use of English. Visuals (are super important!) like charts, flashcards, and sentence stems provide support, while songs or movement keep energy high. Quick check-ins such as “What day is it today?” or “How’s the weather?” give students practice and let teachers assess progress naturally. Creating an atmosphere where students know and understand the routine, and feel like they are improving daily is essential!

Watch everyday for practice! A new one coming everyday!
